  1. Every year, the MFRE awards students who stood out as positive leaders through their studies in the MFRE program. The recipients are nominated by their classmates and the faculty due to their motivation, hard work, dedication and positive outlook.

  2. Gabi Ménard successfully juggles PhD studies and work at UBC. Passionate about the issues surrounding trade, her thesis involves researching international trade impacts in the Integrated Studies program in Land and Food Systems (ISLFS) program.

  4. Last month Poonam Heda, Aashna Singhal and Chimezie Uzoigwe, three bright MFRE students finished successfully the CME’s Trading Challenge with an outstanding return. They started trading with a virtual amount of $500,000 USD from October 6th to November 1st.

  5. We had a very promising start this year with the new MFRE 2020 cohort. Not only did we receive talented students, but also proactive and enthusiastic learners. Three students registered as a group last week for this fall’s Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) trading challenge.

  8. MFRE assistant professor Frederik Noack received a $250,000 grant by the New Frontiers in Research Fund sponsored by the Government of Canada. This grant will support his research on the tendency of rural inhabitants to move into cities.
