Last December, MFRE professors Carol McAusland and Sumeet Gulati joined the Liberal party MP, Joyce Murray, in a Vancouver town hall meeting to discuss the city’s initiative towards a greener economy. Carol and Sumeet emphasized that the government should implement new strategies to tackle climate change and should be doing more to develop renewable energies. Later on the meeting, protesters from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) appeared outside the town hall, where they expressed their own proposals for a greener economy. The meeting then evolved into a series of discussions, questions and answers about what the city’s initiatives should be.

Dr. McAusland and Dr. Gulati are renowned researchers in the area of Environmental Economics, exploring themes such as urban transportation, carbon taxing and policy analysis.
