    Jason Fung , VP of Categories, Berries & Greenhouse, The Oppenheimer Group

    Jason was promoted to lead the complex and expanding berries and greenhouse categories in early 2019. He has strategized and executed Oppy’s full-fledged entry to the berry category, and has applied similar disciplines toward the growth of Oppy's vibrant greenhouse business.

    Agricultural Land Reserve: Challenges and Opportunities

    The Provincial Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) is an independent administrative tribunal dedicated to preserving agricultural land and encouraging farming in British Columbia. It was introduced in the 1970's in response to public concerns regarding the loss of prime agricultural land in BC.

    Fisheries Management in Canada

    Bruce Turris , Former DFO Economist

    Bruce is an economist, but very much a practitioner. For the first 17 years of his career, he was an official with the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, in the Pacific region. He subsequently went into private practice, working very closely with industry as well as the government.

    Vikram Raju , Head of Impact Investing, Morgan Stanley AIP Private Market

    Vikram leads emerging markets and impact investing at AIP Private Markets. He was a principal investment officer at the International Finance Corporation -World Bank Group-, leading the investment program for climate-related private equity funds across emerging markets.

    Dr. Carol McAusland , UBC Food and Resource Economics

    Dr. McAusland is the president of the Canadian Resource and Environmental Economics Association. She holds and M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Michigan and has taught at the University of California and the University of Maryland.

    Dr. Matias Margulis , UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affairs

    Matias E. Margulis has research and teaching interests in global food security, international trade and economic development. He has extensive professional experience in the field of international policy making and is a former Canadian representative to the WTO, OECD and UN FAO.

Bimbo Canada is a member of Grupo Bimbo, a global leader in the baking industry with presence in 33 countries spanning 5 continents.

    Mark Podlasly , First Nations Financial Management Board

    Mark Podlasly is a Harvard University graduate at the forefront of governance and infrastructure issues. He's Director of Governance at the First Nations Financial Management Board leading the development of a Canadian response to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

    Intro to Negotiation from an Agricultural Commodities Trader

    Nima will give an introduction to the structure of negotiation from a practitioner’s point of view as a North American agricultural commodity trader. He managed the Western Canadian market primarily, focusing on feed commodities, position trading, and mentoring/managing junior traders.

    Dr. Sylvain Charlebois , Dalhousie University

    The Canadian food supply chain was put to the test at the onset of the COVID pandemic. This session we'll examine the impacts and opportunities the crisis has created. Dr. Sylvain Charlebois is a Professor at the Faculties of Management and Agriculture at Dalhousie University.

Join us to learn more about how exciting technological progress, global environmental pressures and unprecedented demographic changes are rapidly reshaping the world’s food and natural resources systems.
